The Scheduling Professional (SP) certification, also known as the PMI-SP certification, is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is designed for professionals who specialize in project scheduling.

To obtain the SP certification, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria and pass the SP exam, which tests their knowledge and skills in developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules. The SP exam covers topics such as schedule planning, schedule development, schedule control, project time management principles, and scheduling tools and techniques.

To qualify for the SP exam, candidates must have a secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or global equivalent) with at least five years of project scheduling experience and 40 hours of project scheduling education. Alternatively, candidates with a four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent) need at least three years of project scheduling experience and 30 hours of project scheduling education.

Preparing for the SP exam typically involves studying project scheduling principles and practices, as well as familiarizing oneself with the PMI's standards and guidelines for project scheduling. Many candidates choose to take SP exam preparation courses or use study materials to help them prepare for the exam.

Once certified, SP professionals are required to maintain their certification by earning 30 professional development units (PDUs) in project scheduling every three years.
